LEGAL/ EVENT: Commercial disputes and Arbitration

BUENOS AIRES (Argentina): From 6th to 8th October 2024, the conference 'Commercial Disputes and Arbitration, a 360° view of its complexity' was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, organised by the INTERAMERICAN COMMERCIAL ARBITRATION COMMISSION and the Commercial Arbitration and Mediation Centre (CEMARC). Valenti Legal and Business Consulting was present with its representative Ana Cristina Velásquez De La Cruz.

Among the topics covered, the session on 'Precautionary Measures and Arbitration, The Judicial Tribunal, the Arbitrator or the Emergency Arbitrator', by Alejandra Brasesco, Lindsay Sykes Macarena Letelier Mariana Tupper Satt Alvaro Galindo, was of great importance. This panel addressed the following topics:

(i) in agreements with a staggering clause (multi-step), emergency arbitration can be used without having to wait for the conclusion of the negotiation phase.

(ii) it is possible to apply to the emergency arbitrator for an interim measure pending his decision on whether or not to grant the emergency measure,

(iii) Chilean public entities respect emergency measures.

This large panel was organised by CIAC Mujeres and WOMEN WAY IN ARBITRATION - WWA LATAM thanks to María Inés Corrá Verónica Sandler Obregón.

Finally, as usual, the Peruvian delegation of CIAC Women and CIAC Youth was present, led by Ursula Caro Tumba MCIArb. and Lucero García Silva, ambassadors of #CIACSomosTodos.
